Principles: Transformation and Change
The following are principles about transformation and change:
- All plans include both delivery of current capabilities and the identification and realisation of new capabilities
- Change requires an investment in time, money to deliver value or benefits
- Change must be a conscious choice among alternatives.
- Change requires a good understanding of:
- the current state (what the situation is today)
- the future state (what is the situation at the end of the change)
- the capability for change (are the means available for change)
- the readiness for change (is it the right time for change)
- the possible options to take (what are the approaches that can be taken).
- Leadership is necessary to engage with the people about the vision and approach to achieve the vision.
- Change uses a number of management capabilities that must be effective.
