Process <--> Technology
Activity descriptions will generally include a Technology Interaction Point that identifies a place in the activity where technology is used.
When the technology relates to Information Systems, this relates to the following:
- Inputs (what is the information needed to carry out the activity or make a decision).
- Outputs (what is the information that is updated or created as part of this activity)
- What calculations or operations are performed by the application software to help the person carrying out the activity.
When the technology is related to machinery, this relates to the way the work performed by the person can be translated into a machine to automate the work. This relates to robotics, and other types of machinery. (note a car or truck is a type of automation to move things from A to B.)
If this relates to an information system and the space necessary for this system, the space must consider:
- space for the necessary equipment
- power for the necessary equipment
- storage of information for the work
The overall goal is to identify places in the activities for the process where technology can be used to benefit the results of the capability.
